I’m collecting bad ideas about software product development productivity:
- You can’t measure productivity. Though, granted, you can measure productivity poorly.
- Developer experience is equivalent to productivity. There are many things that feel productive that aren’t and vice versa.
- Platforms automatically improve productivity. It’s not that difficult to (unintentionally) design a platform that does the opposite.
- “Artificial Intelligence” automatically improves productivity. It seems to encourage larger batch size and mislead the inexperienced.
- Measuring performance is just about measuring productivity. Similarly, it’s not necessary, nor useful, to lump everything worth measuring under “productivity”.
What else is worth including?
