There is a spectrum where the emphasis is on the team vs the individual and I am very deliberately saying that a point closer toward team is generally more effective.

Autonomy is not "do what you feel like" (https://jchyip.medium.com/is-your-autonomy-strong-or-weak-885aef97fcbb) is another way of saying this.

I agree a person is not their team. Not every team is a fit for every person. It is useful to accommodate for real people when designing teams. A single person unilaterally imposing their work style on the entire team is worse than individuals adapting OR joining a different team. The agency is the ability to sign-up or not.

Product development, like certain team sports, is more about team flow than individual flow.
